Well-being and health are topics which concern us all, yet concepts that can be difficult to grip.

This degree project proposes staycations as a way to create well-being not only for people but also the environment!

One of the keystones and -concepts of this project was to create adaptable and modular spaces, with great respect for the nature and environment.

This project is a visionary concept for Öjberget, an area which today functions as a recreational area with downhill, cross country skiing, etc. 9 km outside the center of Vaasa.

sketch over the retreat layout

In a potential future of increased winter temperatures where Öjberget does´t get snow and the area can´t be used as today, it is extremely important that it´s health-promoting function continues for the locals.

This work presents a proposal to create a retreat with a spa, orangery, restaurant and accommodation.

With inspiration from the shakers, traditional Japanese architecture and traditional scandinavian interiors the design is made modular, adaptable, functional and with recurring usage of natural materials.
